What is The Employers’ Association? Are you an employment agency?
The Employers’ Association is a membership-based, not-for-profit organization that assists nearly 600 employers with their human resource issues and practices. We provide human resource, compensation, organization development, and training services to our members. We are not an employment agency. However, we maintain a bank of resumes for use by our members.
I have never heard of The Employers’ Association. Are you new?
We began operations in 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and have been serving the needs of employers continuously for 70 years.
Where are you located?
We are located in the Meadowbrook Business Park off Patterson just south of 52nd street in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
How much are the dues?
Dues range from $500 to $3,000 annually depending on your FICA-eligible wages. Average annual dues are about $1,000. See how TEA dues are calculated

We assist our member organizations in achieving best human resource practices by providing a broad base of services that are either free with membership or at a reduced rate.

I am a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Do you compete with them?
Our services complement each other. Membership in SHRM is an individual membership for the human resources professional. The Employers’ Association provides membership benefits to the entire organization that includes the HR discipline and all aspects of organizational well-being.
We belong to a trade association, how can we benefit from membership in The Employers' Association?
Trade associations play a vital role for employers, especially from an advocacy perspective. The Employers’ Association brings a unique perspective to an employer by having members across industry sectors and focusing on cross-demographic issues and trends.
We use our accounting firm, insurance agent or corporate HR department for our people practice support. What value can you bring to our organization?
We provide practical information on Michigan trends, pay practices and legislative/regulatory issues. This is what we have been doing for more than 70 years. We often provide compensation and benefits data to corporate headquarters outside Michigan who have operations in Michigan.
Do I have to be a member to use your services?
For some services membership is required. Many of our services are offered to non-members at a non-discounted rate. Members typically receive a 35%+ discount on services.
What industries do you serve?
The Employers’ Association has members representing a wide cross-section of industries and organizations. Our members represent manufacturing, healthcare, professional services, construction, food service, legal services, transportation, warehousing and non profit organizations such as education, government, and agencies.
What sizes are your member employers?
Member organizations range in size from one to several thousand employees. The average size of a member organization is around 100 employees.
